Diocese of Copenhagen

The Diocese of Copenhagen (in Danish: Københavns Stift) is the district of parishes overseen by the Bishop of Copenhagen. It is one of 11 dioceses within Folkekirken – 10 in Denmark and one in Greenland. Each diocese is presided over by a bishop, elected by parish council members and priests, and there is no office of archbishop in Folkekirken. The Bishop of Copenhagen is the spiritual and administrative authority for the Diocese of Copenhagen, with responsibilities including the placement, payment and supervision of priests. The bishop works together with the other members of the Diocesan Council to strengthen and develop the life of the church in all parishes of the diocese.
